About the Artist

Darlina Abrams

Darlina grew up along the coast of Maine and presently resides in Schenectady, New York with her husband and a menagerie of three cats and two very active dogs. Her inspiration comes from her love of animals to create her own whimsical style of folk artwork. Her capturing of romantic moments in the moon light clearly reveals this love of animals. She also enjoys painting other people's pets to create Pet Portraits. Darlina attended Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, Massachusetts for two years and then transferred to Otis College of Art and Design in California graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Art with a Major in Illustration. She has written and illustrated a children's book about twins, since she is a twin herself. She is currently a Teacher Assistant for Special Education Children in her local school system. She uses her creativity and artistic abilities in the classroom to enhance the learning skills of her students. Darlina says, "I hope you find enchanting romance and tranquil peace in my collection of paintings."
Darlina had a booth at the Pet Adoption Day at The Saratoga County Animal Shelter. Steve Caporizzo hosted the event. He also hosts the Pet Connection on Albany's WTEN.
Darlina donated her popular "Star Gazing" print to an art auction that took place on April 4, 2009. Linda Ford, pictured with Darlina, hosted the art auction.
